In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jin Ping announced to the world a new project called Yi dai yi lu: "a ribbon one way", basically the "New Silk Road".
We are talking about a pharaonic project to manage the creation of an Asian infrastructure investment bank with a starting capital of 100 billion dollars!
In this mega project that includes sea lines, ports, railway lines, bridges, highways will partecipate 65 countries, including Italy.
Italy, by virtue of its strategic position, is one of the most involved countries and, in my opinion, one of those that will benefit most from this enormous commercial boost for the years to come.
Our country, which boasts a very long history of transport to and from the Middle and Far East, has promptly joined and its seaports together with that of Piraeus in Greece will greatly increase the volume of their trades.
Everything seems to be very beautiful and promising however, is it only a question of money or an attempt by China to shift the world center of the economy away from the United States ?
Or is it a way for China to increase its hegemony especially over weaker and neighboring countries?
Doubt is legitimate.
The main player in the logistics field is called Cosco, which is Chinese and controls the port of Piraeus, not surprisingly the most important of all the ports.
The risk then is that some nations, in order to build the necessary infrastructures, may need the financial support of China. What would happen in the event of non-compliance?
Ok we are not here to do geopolitics but to emphasize the fact that if China says one thing, there are many possibilities that it comes true. Therefore we recommend to enjoy and to ride the wave.
